On And On has an effortless Californian West Coast USA vibe to it. Think America, mid period Beach Boys, that sort of thing. So that’s quite an achievement when you consider that Fossil Collective are from the North East of England! On And On is the most beautiful piece of music we’ve heard this week, and we like it so much it went on repeat 6 time in a row. There’s also a stunning video from Broken Pixel. Layers of guitar, piano, flutes and a squishy driving bass means that there’s always something new to hear. Blissful dreamy pop. A true gem.
The Epstein have taken an English summer from the past and bottled it. This is the perfect summer song to fall in, or out of love to or just lie awake in the warmth of a summer night and feel glad to be alive. Wonderful warm-hearted English folk and a band that we’re clamouring to hear more from.
It’s so refreshing to find a band that isn’t making music to please radio programmers, record company people, or in fact anyone but themselves. Lovely Eggs have made the barmiest song of the year so far, though in truth no one is likely to come close in the next 6 months. Don’t Look At Me, I Don’t Like It makes my teeth itch. Bonus points for going to Morecambe, the best seaside resort ever…fact, and getting John Shuttleworth in the video. My favourite song of the year so far!
