We loved First Aid Kit’s single Ghost Town so much that we nearly wore the vinyl out. So it’s wonderful to have them back with a big ‘full band’ sound and a great new single. The Lion’s Roar takes off where debut LP, The Big Black And The Blue left us, but sisters Johanna & Klara Söderberg have been working hard perfecting the light and shade that they do so well. Lion’s Roar is the sound of their Stockholm winters but with soaring summer harmonies that the girls do so effortlessly. Just perfect.
The Radio is the debut single from Being There – a perfect pop single that would sound great on, err – the radio! A great debut with a nice low-budget home-made video. You may have seen them opening for Noah & The Whale on tour. Being There were a support act well worth leaving the bar for and saying – I was there!
Hey kids, if your mates ask what sort of music you like, just tell them – Electro Rockabilly. They won’t know what you’re talking about because it’s the music of the future. But when the future arrives they’ll see that you were right – and cool. If anyone asks who your favourite singer is, tell them it’s Willy Moon and then wait for 2012 to come around and for everyone to see yet again, just how cool you are. Because Willy Moon makes music of the future and is not influenced by the past in any way. OK, this time next year we may be sick of hearing this song done by karaoke singers trying that bit too hard, and XFactor contestants hoping it’ll help them stand out from the crowd. For now though, let’s enjoy the cool refreshing breeze of Willy as his comet comes into the indie/cool/NME orbit before it hurtles off into the mainstream. Willy Moon and his song I Wanna Be Your Man will surely Not Fade Away.
